Sacred Nature Volume 1 & 2

In 2016 we published Sacred Nature: Life’s Eternal Dance (HPH) celebrating the wonders of the Mara-Serengeti in East Africa. We have been working in this area since 1977 documenting the lives of the big cats and spectacular wildebeest and zebra migration, and the way the Maasai community have traditionally lived alongside wild creatures, moving with their livestock according to the rains. We consider this the last place on earth you can still see such an array of species in an ecosystem of 25,000 sq km (10,000 sq ml). In 2021 we published Volume 2 of Sacred Nature called Sacred Nature 2: Reconnecting People with Our Planet (HPH) taking a global view of the world’s great ecosystems: savannas, plants and forests, deserts, mountains, water and the polar regions. We highlighted both the wonder and beauty of these habitats and the reasons for concern about their future - and ours. We were delighted that SN1 was awarded the Gold Award for Photography in the Independent Book Publishers Awards in 2017 with Angela’s images making up 85% of the collection, and in 2022 Sacred Nature 2 was awarded the Silver Award for Photography in the Independent Book Publishers Awards. This is a tremendously exciting achievement and is in no small measure due to the imaginative and beautiful design of both books by our son David Scott.
